The Minister of Public Business Sector witnesses the signing of an agreement to build a solar power station to produce electricity for Misr Aluminum Company.

 

Dr. Mahmoud Esmat: The station has a capacity of 1 gigawatt to generate new and renewable energy for the factory within the framework of a comprehensive and integrated development project. We are keen to comply with the requirements of sustainability and a clean environment to expand into global markets.

Within the framework of the general direction to enhance the transition to the green economy and diversify energy sources And the expansion of the use of new and renewable (clean) energies, including solar energy and wind energy, in producing the electricity needed for industrial uses. Today, Tuesday, Dr. Mahmoud Esmat, Minister of the Public Business Sector, witnessed the signing of a cooperation agreement between the Misr Aluminum Company and the Norwegian company “Scatec ASA” to establish a station. Solar energy with a capacity of 1 gigawatt to produce electricity for the industrial complex in Nag Hammadi, in the presence of Hilda Klemtsdal, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Norway in Cairo.

According to the agreement, the station will be constructed in two phases with a capacity of 500 megawatts for each phase, with the first phase being completed within 18 months from the date of signing, and the second phase within 24 months, in coordination with the Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy.

The solar station is scheduled to be built in a location close to the aluminum factory in Nag Hammadi, and SCATEC (an integrated developer of green energy and fuel projects) will develop and finance the project, install equipment, and conduct studies.
